Thumbs up Dragonball Fighters - Arc System Works (PC, PS4, XBO)

    Pretty neat news.

Bandai Namco is working on a new Dragon Ball fighting game, and this time Arc System Works is involved. In 2018, Dragon Ball Fighters will come to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will be a 2.5D game, just like Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator.

The Dragon Ball Fighters announcement appeared in a press release dated June 12, 2017. While it does mention the 2.5D presentation and 3v3 battle system, it makes no mention of a character roster or modes that will be available. However, two screenshots were provided that show Goku, Frieza, Vegeta, Majin Buu, and Cell.
I'm hoping this is a lucrative deal for Arc System Works to fund more of their own products down the road. Regardless, this is going to be one fantastic looking fighting game.

    TRAILER DROPPED!

In a perfect world Capcom would hire ASW to revitalize Darkstalkers.

I guess, but isn't there a new anime going on? I don't want to discourage discussion, but I don't know if there's much overlap between people who watch the cartoons and people who play the games. Sort of the disconnect between people who flock to see comic book movies, but won't step foot in an actual comic shop.

I'm loving the hype for this, not because I'm a Dragonball fan; but because Arc System Works has been putting in hard work for years and it's great to see it paying off.

Sounds great! This game looks like they put in some real work into an actual DBZ game.

I'm surprised the gameplay doesn't just consist of people floating around talking to each other. The game looks better than any Dragonball cartoons I remember watching.

This game looks stupid good. In terms of visuals. I'm sure it will play fantastically, but holy crap. . . This is so good looking.

This game has turned into a “2.5D battle” combining 2D anime presentation and 3D solid presentation. In recent years there have been many “Dragon Ball” games where you fly around through 3D space, so the reason for bothering to choose 2.5D is because there are some things only it can express. Although at first glance it looks just like 2D animation, since it’s made in 3D the camera can move to different angles, allowing for a wider range of expression and introducing many unique productions that are impossible in only 2D or 3D. I am sure that all the players will be able to experience “Dragon Ball” battles that feel like an anime they’re running in real time. Look forward to “Dragon Ball” battles you can only experience in this game.
