Pretty sure I had at least one more, but just can't seem to find the art for this... (Was for this one - http://www.penciljack.com/forum/show...=1#post1295674 )

    Then onto some business-related questions...
    1. When we start getting a mailing list together before the Kickstarter, who will be the caretaker for this if someone leaves? Will the person leaving get a shout-out on the mails for the people on the mailing list to join his/her own one, or what?
    2. What is the $0 option for hosting comics? Or just paste 'em on IMGUR and link to these? Or do we get our own domain, hosting, ComicPress installation, etc?
    3. What do we call this writer's collective wanting to publish an anthology? And would it really be limited to only writers?
    1. We should build a mailing list at least in my opinion. This would be a list of all the writers and artists involved in these comics. They can email the Kickstarter information to their friends and family so the odds increase. Honestly, if the goal is do have a digital and print run for this we can probably do it for less than 5K. Keep in mind as the page count goes up so does the cost to print.
    2. I don’t know any comic hosting sites.
    3. Honestly if we can get the powers to be here at Penciljack to approve we should tie it into the site which will generate interest in the community as well as what we do here.

    Just my two cents.

So should the writers who haven't had any scripts drawn find someone willing to draw it for them?

Part of the reason it's not super common for PJ scripts to get drawn is that artist like to (and should!) get paid.

That, or take a bit more time to let more stories be drawn. I really think the fairest is to do it from stories already done. And if it goes well, then plan more initiatives like this.

If we can get a good collection we can have something put together pretty easily.
Yeah, sorry for any confusion - this first one is all about getting all the comics done already by writers (and drawn by PJ art deities!) here at PJ online in one place, and then before the end of the year into an anthology.

There should be no time limit (I would think) on the old stories done already, so any/all should be eligible.

And let's see how many more stories, coming out of this & future writing contests, we can get drawn before the end of the year?

Let me try to find out what's the lead time for printing a 80-100 page comic, then we work it back from there? Should we aim for an Xmas stocking stuffer or something for say, Halloween?

@jamesdcreviston - yeah, I'm hoping we can get enough comics together to fill a decent sized anthology. Maybe once we have a few stories on the thread, then we can show the Powers That Be, and get them their OK as well? And maybe we can mention the anthology in the artist's section? Not just for people to look at the scripts and hopefully choose a story to do, but also to maybe get stories done by artists, that they'd like to put into the anthology?

One idea I had - if some of the indie published PJ creators want to - they can take a 3-10 page (self-contained) excerpt from their already (or to-be published) comic and add it to the anthology? Here's hoping the interest will also give their work a bit more promotion/marketing?

And good point @Shaun - artists deserve to get paid. Let's maybe all brainstorm how to make this a win-win situation for artists and writers? Maybe pairing with an artist and you write to his/her strengths, instead of just asking them to pick a script that appeals to them from the writing contests? Do a bit of quid pro quo for artists and offer to redo their site's wording and/or look/feel if you're also IT-inclined?

Maybe we should see if we can get a company to sponsor any prizes? Pre-sell advertising space in the anthology?
(Another idea - I've mostly switched over to reading comics digitally, so I have a few thousand comics in storage that I'm not going to read anytime soon again. Maybe I can donate this to the cause and artists can choose a few longboxes for 5 pages? Only issue is, the comics are in South Africa, and sending these outside the country is going to be really expensive...)

    Any other ideas?

Yeah, that's the long and short of it...

Maybe we all can have a look if any artist would be willing to sponsor a page or 3 of pencils as a prize for a future writing contest? And then the rest can be done over a few months as to not break the bank?

One more thing - anybody here knows how to do computer lettering?

Here's the one Veritas71 did for my story, but this was already published in Alterna Comics. I hope that's not an issue.

I also like the one Stoat did of the same script, but it would require inking and some polishing,

Tudore had an awesome story drawn by RMHarris, but it's unfinished. Maybe we could beg for it to be finished up? BattleWraith and Veritas also teamed up for a cool one on the same script.

Centaur178 had an awesome script that had a few cool interpretations,

A Scrappy story that got drawn, unfortunately, again, only one artist finished,
    http://www.penciljack.com/forum/show...-(W-Veritas71)

And a Zepster story that totally rocked. Stoat's version is great and, again, Veritas has the most polished version.

Some cool pages from RonB here, unfinished but again, maybe I could persuade him to finish?

We would have to reach out to those artists to get their permission and the full rez files. We'll also have to track down some of the writers who don't haunt these halls any longer.

Perhaps we open this conversation up to the artist on PJ for their input & suggestions?

I agree with this 100%. If all the scripts were created by and for pencil jack members and same with the art it only makes sense for PJ to be in the branding of this book. Honestly that's the only thing that's going to tie together really different themes, art, etc.

Who's going to be the publisher? Do we want a full-on web version or just pdfs? Pencil Jack would be a sponsor, then?

And I agree that we should tell the artists

If we go ahead with this I'll get the pages drawn for my "Masks" story.

I would be best to do a digital comic for now. At some point we could print the anthology. We could do digital for almost nothing and get it posted on Comixology.

That would be awesome! We will keep you in the loop on our progress. Hopefully we can get this off the ground.
