Mostly ways to practice. I'm doing a favorite character redesign competition with Hofling, and I decided that I'm going to use Noir as my subject of change, the character being Deadpool. I saw some heavily contrasted black and white and I thought Noir would be awesome.

Fair warning, I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm going to keep doing it though.

There's some drapery stuff that's really starting to click for me.

On some parts of this page, I was exploring the idea of character designs as a combination of "glyphs" -- "an individual mark on a written medium that contributes to the meaning of what is written." Basically, as a combination of discrete symbols. We'll see where this goes.

    What's that jackalope logo for?

Tattoo for a friend of mine. It's for his Brooklyn hipster moped gang.

"Hipster moped gang". I gotta see that. I could already picture all the scarves flapping at a leisurely 30mph.

I do like that you incorporated the 23 into the asymmetry in the antlers. That's pretty clever. His idea or yours?

It seems pretty ridiculous, but they have a lot of of fun. The 23 in the antlers was his idea -- I'm surprised you caught that, I thought it was pretty subtle.

It was at first. I had to zoom into the picture and see if I could spot the differences. I didn't think you would draw 3 exact logos for the hell of it.

I love it all. The drapery stuff was nice, I have a particularly hard time with that. How'd you get in the practice? I just can't find a decent method. I get overwhelmed trying to draw all the folds in the shirts and such around here, I feel like I need to work my way up from simpler things.
